Thursday April 12th and Friday April 13th

After scrambling to get all of the work done in the studio, I earned myself a couple of days off to work on some new art pieces for my upcoming solo show at the San Diego Art Institute. I had this shoot planned for a month, but was not really prepared for all of the loops that the weather was going to throw my way.

Angie and Paul are from Pennsylvania and are a couple that we will be working with at their wedding this coming August. When they heard about my project they were totally willing to fly out to San Diego to work with me for a couple of days. We statred out with a few obsticles to overcome, first their flight was due in on Wednesday night but bad weather forced the plane to be grounded overnight in Chicago. With only a few hours sleep, they landed in San Diego at 11 and then at 1 they were off with me for a long photo session. Our original plan was to head out to the desert and shoot in the old salt encrusted trailers on Bombay Beach, but again the weather was against us. The desert was blowing away on Thursday, winds up to 65mph. So... we headed out to some local spots instead.

Our first stop was the Laundromat (thank you Seth!) where we got some fun and unusual shots....

Then we headed to an old, kind of creepy, drainage ditch in a park in Escondido that turned out to be a perfect location for Angie....

Next a lone chimney at Lake Hodges... my interpretation of the classic American Gothic painting....

We ended up at the beach in hopes of a nice sunset but just got a lot of cold and wind! But... it worked well for us!

Friday the weather totally turned around and we headed out to Elfin Forrest, now it was time for some focus on Paul.....

And a world of thanks to Angie on this one, I had her laying in this stream... and the water was really cold, I was in there with her, so glad we did this on Friday when it was warmer! This girl SO earned the model of the year award!

I had an amazing time getting to know Angie and Paul over these two days, these two are the best! After all the flight delays, changes in location, they just kept working along, giving me some amazing images to work with. And I had a great time stepping out of the traditional and getting back into a moodier space for a few days.

I also want to say a HUGE thanks to Peggi Walker of metro Floral in Hillcrest. Peggi made us 3 beautiful bouquets to work with... they were stunning. http://www.peggiwalker.com/about.php her creativity is amazing! And also a HUGE thnks to Leita for getting these two to me!

Thank you both! You were awesome dealing with the unexpected challenges that came up. Angie and Paul were only hoping you could get what you needed under the circumstances. We all had a great experience! The future mother-in-law Leita
